The Trevor Huddleston CR Memorial Centre Sophiatown

Since 2003 the Huddleston Centre has provided ICT training programmes for young people and women who have no other means to obtain such training. The courses run for 12 weeks and include basic computer literacy, personal development and business readiness.

Courses are accredited and can be linked to a Certificate in Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

A partnership with Neotel will now give greater access to the internet for entrepreneurs to access mentorship and  other support for their business.

"I am 20 years old and live in Meadowlands, Soweto. I attended the ICT programme in May 2008 and after I graduated, top of the class , I joined the Ambassadors of Sophiatown.  This has helped me to understand other people's backgrounds, better understand myself and never to undermine one another when you are working together. Now I am computer literate, confident and will go far in life."

Patrick:

"I did computer lessons at Trevor Huddleston CR Memorial Centre in 2008. I didn't know what was going to happen after that, but now I can sincerely say it was a good achievement.  I would not have got the job of a policeman without IT skills and would not have been to cope.. With the wonderful environment around and the spirit of the school, I am now a skilled police officer around Sophiatown and one of the products of the Centre".
